Daly’s Bar is located at the top of High Street in Omagh, beside the Courthouse. There is a small step into the bar, which creates problems with people in wheelchairs to get over. With assistance, it does not cause too much problems, however there is another door within and it can be a tight squeeze to get it opened and maneuver the wheelchair around.
Once into the front bar, it is pretty much accessible. The bar is quite high, but the bar staff offer good help by taking orders from where you are seated, if you have access or height concerns.
Unfortunately, this is the only part of Daly’s which is accessible to disabled clientele, as there is steps down into the back bar, which prove impossible for disabled people to use. There is also a further bar upstairs, plus an entertainments venue for live music and comedy. As there is no elevator in the building, it is impossible to get up the stairs. The staff at Daly’s are good though, as they provide whatever assistance is needed to reach all the different levels, though it can be a little embarrassing at times, especially if the bar is full.
There is no disabled toilets at Daly’s either, which can be problematic at times, as I cannot get my wheelchair into any of the regular toilets. There isn’t enough space, plus they are not on the level. I have to rely on other for help.
