Omniplex Omagh is the newest cinema from Omniplex Cinemas, situated on the old Desmond’s Factory site on the Kevlin Road in the town. Boasting 7 screens, including a MAXX screen.
There are an ample number of disabled parking spaces at Omniplex Omagh at the entrance to the cinema and everything is on the flat and smooth surface outside. The doors into the cinema are automatic and wide, so pose no issues for anyone in a wheelchair or restrictive movement.
Inside, there is wide open spaces to move around in. There are two dedicated places to sit and wait over a cup of coffee or ice cream.
There is a lowered section at the tickets and snacks counter for people with disabilities as a priority, which is clearly marked.
All screens are on the first floor, but there is an elevator for people in wheelchairs to use.
Of the 7 screens, they are as follows.
2 screens have two wheelchair spaces at the front row. This can be a little uncomfortable for view purposes, but generally it is decent.
4 screens have two wheelchair spaces on the three row. This is a more comfortable view.
1 screen is the MAXX studio. 6 wheelchair spaces are on the back row. These are best seats in the house, in the best screen.
There are two disabled toilets in the cinema, one on each floor. Both are spacious, with plenty of room for all sizes of wheelchairs. The toilets are however situated against the wall and not in the middle. This was imposed by Building Control, but it is an issue My Way Access and Omniplex are working on together to resolve in the future.
Overall, I am very impressed with the cinema and their facilities for people with disabilities. They are very proactive in ensuring that it is an enjoyable experience for all and always try to help.
