Santander recently refurbished their premises on Market Street, merging their branch on High Street with it. As part of their major refurbishment, disability access was a big component of it.
The bank has automatic doors into the building now, with a gradual slope up the length of the bank to the clerk’s station. This is wide, with lots of open space to ensure that wheelchairs and mobility aids have unrestrictive movement. At the desk, there is a lowered section for disabled customers, with a t-loop system for the hearing impaired.
For private bank meetings, there are large offices, with good access into them and lots of room for wheelchairs. This makes it a lot easier to meet with the bank on a one-to-one basis, ensuring that all your information remains private.
As well as having an ATM on the wall outside, Santander also have an ATM inside the bank to ensure that disabled customers feel more secure when drawing money from the machines.
The bank staffs is also extremely friendly and helpful with any queries you might have and help with any problems you may have.
