The Castlecourt Hotel is situated in Co. Mayo’s popular tourist village Westport.
There is a good access at the front of the hotel into the lobby and excellent disabled parking facilities and access at the rear of the hotel.
The hotel is a very spacious and open hotel, with lots of good access for disabled people. Some of the carpet can be a little heavy, but it does not cause too much problems for wheelchairs. Might be something to be wary of those, if you have restrictive mobility. There are no lowered desk at reception, so I had to rely on others to take care of the checking-in process.
The staff in the hotel are very friendly and go out of their way to ensure that you have an enjoyable and relaxing time at the hotel, by helping out with any concerns or issues you may have in relation to your disability and access throughout the hotel.
The bedrooms themselves where large and good enough to accommodate my wheelchair and my guest, who was also in a wheelchair. We had plenty of room to get around the bedroom, without restricting each other. The bathroom too was also spacious and caused me no concerned. Provided me with all the facilities that you would expect to find in a disabled friendly room.
The restaurant and bar were accessible by myself in the wheelchair and the staff were able to help me organise chairs and tables to suit my needs.
Outside was paved and provided a smooth surface for my wheelchair, which was great.
